Tuesday, July 15th

The weather forecasts from Monday didn¹t turn true. A strong north-west wind
was going over the Salzachtal and destroyed the hopes of most teams to
arrive in Zillertal. The only pilot to manage this masterpiece was Kaspar
Henny. He started from Wildkogel, flying over the Gerlos right into
Zillertal to then continue hiking until Jenbach.

Hot Spot Schmittenh?e

Until 11.30 am six pilots arrive on top of Schmittenh?e close to Zell am
See: Will Gadd, Thomas Friedrich, Urs Loetscher, Andi Fr?scher and the duo
Tomi Coconea and Uros Rozic. Despite the strong head winds Urs is the first
one to take of around 11.00 am, but has to land after 12 kilometers (he
walks up another mountain to fly another 15 k¹s, ranking second behind
compatriot Kaspar Henny). Thomas Friedrich launches at 14.00 pm and is also
a victim of the wind: He glides down Schmittenh?e, landing exactly where he
started in the morning. The same happens to Holger Herfurth at Mittersill:
He glides down all of the 1000 height meters he climbed up before.

At first Andi Fr?scher thinks about walking along the OPinzgauer walk? but
finally takes off at 16.30 am and is then forced to land after only 13
kilometers. Will, Tomi and Uros are the ones to walk along Othe walk?
gliding into the valley shortly before sunset.

Wednesday, July 16th

The big flight day. Walter Holzm?ler, David Dagault, Krzysztof Ziolkowski
and also the leader Kaspar Henny cover more than 100 kilometers.

From 17th to 6th in one day

Walter Holzm?ler: Among the experts the Austrian is one of the favorites
for the title. On Tuesday night he is still in Zell am See ranking 17th and
last. Wednesday morning he climbs up Maurerkogel, a mountain westwards of
Schmittenh?e, in 1,200 meters. He glides until Bramberg, then climbs
another 400 meters to launch again, getting into a great thermic, which
takes him up to 3,600 meters. He easily flys over the Gerlos and almost
reaches the end of Zillertal. Walter top lands and walks for another two k¹s
out of the valley before starting for the third time. The flight conditions
are still perfect: Walter reaches a top speed of 65 km/h. In Weer he is
forced to land reaching the flight control zone of the local airport. He
finishes this day ranking sixth.

In the early evening hours the flights of many pilots are stopped by
thunderstorms coming from the west. Kaspar Henny is only 20 k¹s away from
the Swiss boarder. 60 kilometers behind him nobody thinks about sleeping ?
Urs Loetscher, Thomas Friedrich and Holger Herfurth are fighting the heavy
rain and for the second place.

Mihnea Chris: Accident at Wildkogel
Bad luck for Tomi Coconea. His supporter Mihnea Chris experienced an
accident with his paraglider on Wedensday afternoon at Wildkogel, falling
for some 40 meters. Luckily the owner of the restaurant at Wildkogel
accompanies him to the valley. Mihnea is brought to hospital. The diagnosis:
He suffers from a concussion and some back problems. But Mihnea is already
feeling much better and will be released from hospital on the weekend. A
difficult situation for Tomi: He has to replace his supporter within 48
hours.

Burning servers
Between 10.00 and 11.00 am more than 12.000 hits reached the event website.
Two additional servers need to be installed to overcome this Oavalanche? At
16.00 pm the live tracking is working again ?ready for the Red Bull X-Alps
fans around the world.

Thursday, July 17th

The fourth competition day is a complete hiking day. A rain front is passing
by making flying impossible. Some pilots manage to fly for up to 10 k¹s, but
most of the competitors are only walking. Kaspar Henny is the first one to
cross the Swiss boarder, he spends the night in Scoul.Thomas Friedrich and
Holger Herfurth passed Landeck, ranking second and third. Urs Loetscher
dropped back a little bit, sitting on the Sellrain. Krzysztof Ziolkowski,
Uros Rozic, David Dagault, Will Gadd and Walter Holzm?ler are all situated
in the Innsbruck area.

Replacement for Mihnea Chris

Good luck for Tomi Coconea: His new supporter Claudiu Dusa arrived in
Innsbruck and will try to replace Mihnea as good as possible.

Ways into the south
While most of the competitors took the route from Pinzgau over Zillertal to
Innsbruck, others like Arif Kemal Buhara and Slavi Vassilev went totally on
different ways. Arif made his way to Hintertux on Thursday and wants to
cross the glacier on Friday to reach Pfons. Slavi hiked into the south in
Krimml and spent the night in the Krimml Tauern House. It looks like as he
wants to cross the Birnpass to reach Italy.

The long distance flyers
So far French David Dagault is the one with the most percentage flown so far
? of his 167 kilometers in total he flew 86 %. Behind him Arif Kemal Buhara
with 78 % of 138 kilometers, followed by Kaspar Henny with 73 % of his total
257 kilometers. At the very end of this Oaerial statistic?Carlos Carsolio
(44 % of 115 kilometers) and Jon Shaw (34,5 % of 97 kilometers).
